My name is Lyndon Haynes I am a writer originally from North London. I have been writing officially since 2011 however I was in the music industry for almost 30 years. I have always been attracted to great storytelling and creating characters and voices, I love to paint vivid pictures and have a very descriptive style to make the reader feel, see and be in the actual world I have created.
My writing history started in earnest in 2009 when I attended a part time creative writing course at Enfield College in North London, prior to that I had been involved in the music industry for 25 years. I began by writing a collection of short stories then in 2011 submitted my work to a publisher (Book Guild) who published my first book entitled This Functional Family based on my life’s true events.
I wanted to learn the craft of storytelling and screen writing so attended Regents University in London 2014 where I studied writing for screen and stage achieving my post graduate master’s degree graduating in 2016. During this time, I released my second book which was self-published with Authorhouse entitled The Life and Times of Stanley Spank released in 2015.
My work expanded to writing screenplays and from the period of 2016 to 2019 I worked alongside an experienced TV producer and script editor called Yvonne Grace where I completed 2 feature films and two drama series (Unreleased). In 2017 I also wrote a short play called The weather girl for a competition called Write here write now in Essex, which won and was produced in The Harlow Playhouse.
I have worked alongside the Sickle Cell Society UK and have been an ambassador in promoting awareness throughout events in London, I also donate 50% of any royalties to the charity. I have also spoken at prominent events all over London including Libraries, youth community centres and Black History month events. I have also achieved my Masters degree from Regents University in writing for screen and stage in 2015.
My book Rosa was written during the pandemic lockdown and self-published in 2021 by Publishing Push. I was also recognised on the UK British Blacklist of creatives in 2022 and joined the black writer’s guild in 2024.
Now in 2024 I have self-published my 4th book called Paper Trail the first instalment of a trilogy, a crime thriller which is set in London but takes the reader to Europe and the Middle East with its ensemble of characters. A touch of mystery a touch of suspense and a pair of siblings in Cindy and Dwayne who are connected by much more than blood.
I enjoy the process of writing and storytelling and feel I have much more to offer and am ready to take my craft and talent to the next level. My books are written with the global audience in mind as I want to reach as many people as possible and share my gift and passion to the world.
